 Data Collection

At the time of initial study, the men had complete physical examinations, somatotyping, and home interviews that provided unusually complete medical histories.

In both Harvard and Boston City Cohorts, physical and mental health were testing done using:

1. Questionnaires: Every 2 years, both the Grant and Glueck men completed questionnaires asking about their physical and mental health, marital quality, career or retirement enjoyment, and many other aspects of their lives.

2. Health Information: Every five years, health information was collected from the men and their physicians to assess their physical health.

3. Interviews: Many of the men from both groups have been interviewed every 5-10 years to document more in-depth information about their relationships, their careers, and their adjustment to aging.
